Government Museum Bangalore (Entry Fee, Timings, Entry Ticket Cost, Price)

Located on the Kasturba Gandhi Road, the Government Museum enjoys a close proximity to the famous Cubbon Park as well. Its main building was designed by the Colonel Sankey. It was in the year of 1876 when its construction was completed. The current building has various wings attached to it as well which were added later on.

The Museum was open to public in the year of 1886 and since then it has been attracting hordes of visitors. This museum has two floors which have been divided into 18 galleries for the purpose of exhibition. Each gallery has something special and unique to offer you. Various sections are geology, natural history, sculpture, art, numismatics and various others.

The museum boasts of rich and varied collection. Ancient coins and art have been displayed beautifully here. Various remnants from Indus valley civilizations, Mohenjodaro, Halebid and Vijayanagar have also been kept here. Some of the relics that you will see here are almost 5000 years old. It also has prehistoric artifacts. These artifacts which belong to the Neolithic period were excavated from Chandravalli. You can also get a glimpse of items like inscriptions, icons, paintings, South Indian jewelry, beautiful stones, coins, miniature paintings, sculptures, textiles and others.

You can visit this Museum on any of weekday except Monday. It is also close on public holidays. The visiting time to Government Museum is between 10 am to 5 pm.
